FAQs

Do I have to be a Christian to go to Christian Skaters Events?
No. We respect your beliefs and opinions, and we also ask you to respect the fact that Christian Skaters will share with you about how you can know God through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Then it is up to you what you do with Him.

Why do you do Skate Missions?
We are constantly pushing ourselves to keep feet to our faith rather than being content as a cosy fellowship group for Christians who skate. Although, each partner ministry will be unique in it’s amount of outreach, out main focus it reaching those who do not know Jesus Christ. We hope to serve others, meet needs, and share the joy of skateboarding. But more, importantly, we hope to share the hope and the love of Jesus Christ.

Is it possible to be a Christian and a skateboarder?
Christian Surfers put it best. Skateboarding is a  “self-centred lifestyle and the Jesus lifestyle is others centered. So how can it mix?? Firstly there is nothing inherently evil with skating…the problem is in the skater! Skating can become all important. An ‘idol’ is anything we worship, and that just means we place our greatest worth on, and God doesn’t tolerate any rivals! So, to be totally honest, it is only when we surrender our lives, and our skate skills with that, to Jesus that God gets his rightful place in our lives. Then we are worshiping him as the Creator, not just the creation.”

Is Christian Skaters an alternative to church?
No. Although Christian Skaters might be the first place a skater meets Jesus, we are not a substitute for church. Christian Skaters strives to be a bridge to churches. All CS leaders belong to a local church and we work with local churches to reach their local skate community, plug them in, and help them grow in their faith.

What if there isn’t a Christian Skaters group near me?

Our hope is to have a CS partner within skating distance of every skater in the globe. It is a BIG vision, but we serve a BIGGER God.  But, if there is not a current group or ministry near you, You can keep in touch with the international office through our website, Facebook &  Twitter. We can offer you resources and encouragement. You can get involved in our online Facebook page and website forum. You may be able to attend one of our skate conferences; or you can start a group yourself!

How do I start a Christian Skaters group?
Typically you would need to be a committed Christian, a committed skater (or attached to the skateboarding community) and committed to a local church that would support this idea. Find some like-minded people, pray, and email us for help. You don’t have to be the best skater, but you need to be a real servant.
